Motion by Dan Cloud to accept Minutes from November 9, 2015 meeting, Second by Lesa Ahlstrom.
Under the request of Principal Brinkerhoff, Laree Bybee presented some of the College & Career Awareness Binders for current students. They have ACT help and SEOP so when the student graduates from High School they will be prepared for scholarship applications and College options.
Laree also reviewed the CTE survey for the counselling program evaluation. Parents need to take the survey, the questions presented is how do we get it out to the parents? Suggestions were thru email and send home with the students with a call to parents letting them know about the survey.
Laree let us know about the calendar page on the website where parents can directly schedule an appointment with the school counselor for parent meetings.
Laree informed us that this year’s ACT progress program funded by School Land Trust Funds has been implemented with measurable success and shows the students are improving in understanding and taking the ACT.
Laree presented the CCGP Accountability and Data Project Report. This report is available for review in the High School office to any parents who wish to review it.
Principal Update:
High School Principal Brinkerhoff reviewed the current plan and reported we are on schedule. This plan can be viewed by parents at his office. He reviewed the plan for next year and asked for input from council members on items they would like to see implemented.
Ideas discussed were getting some foreign language class options for students. Also offering more BYU Independent study classes for floundering seniors. Also suggested was a drama club but that idea was considered not likely to happen.
Elementary Principal LeFevre reviewed the current year plan with the updated amounts, this plan is on approved schedule and can be reviewed by parents in his office. He invited input for next year plan. Ideas included keeping many of the same items and adding some kindle fire books for elementary students reading program.
Mr. LeFevre addressed the council members concerning the email that was sent to each of them by a parent of an elementary student. This parent emailed each of the council members concerning his daughter and his experience in dealing with the school. Mr. LeFevre informed the council members that this parent is welcome to visit the Principles office and discuss his concerns about his daughter. He advised council members not to respond to the email or discuss it with the parent due to legal rights of the child.
Next meeting date was set for March 7, 2016. Assignment was given to Chairman Carlon to invite School Board President Ken Platt to this meeting.
Motion to adjourn made by Dan Cloud.
